Snake Shows for Schools & Libraries
Live reptile education that turns fear into fascination — and makes science unforgettable.
The Show That Gets Kids Talking
Daryl Sprout has been performing live reptile shows for schools and libraries across North Texas since 1992. In that time he's learned something that no textbook can replicate: when a child holds a snake for the first time, something shifts. The fear dissolves. The curiosity takes over. And the questions start.
That's the moment this show is built around. Not a lecture. Not a slideshow. A live, hands-on experience that connects kids to the natural world in a way they'll remember for years.
Show Formats
School Assemblies
Full-school or grade-level assemblies with live snakes, lizards, and other reptiles. Daryl tailors the content to the age group — from wonder-focused presentations for K–2 to science-aligned programs for older students. Shows run 45–60 minutes and include a Q&A.
- Grades K–12
- 45–60 minutes
- Curriculum-aligned content available
- Up to 300 students per session
Classroom Visits
Smaller, more intimate sessions for individual classrooms. Ideal for science units on reptiles, ecosystems, or animal adaptations. Students get more hands-on time and the conversation goes deeper.
- Single classroom or small group
- 30–45 minutes
- Pairs well with science curriculum
- More hands-on interaction per student
Public Library Programs
Library shows are some of Daryl's most requested public performances. They draw families who are genuinely curious, the questions are great, and the energy in a library program room is unlike anything else. Free to attend — open to the whole community.
- Free public attendance
- All ages welcome
- Summer reading program favorite
- Works with library programming staff
STEM & Science Events
Science fairs, STEM nights, and after-school programs. Daryl's show fits naturally into any event where the goal is getting kids excited about the natural world. Live animals do what posters and videos can't.
- Science fairs and STEM nights
- After-school programs
- Nature center events
- Flexible format and duration
Why Live Animals Work in Education
Emotional memory
Kids remember experiences, not facts. Holding a snake creates a memory that anchors everything else Daryl teaches.
Fear to fascination
Many children arrive afraid. Most leave wanting to hold the snake again. That transformation is the lesson.
Real science, live
Scales, senses, locomotion, thermoregulation — Daryl covers real biology through direct observation, not description.
35+ years of refinement
The show has been tested in front of thousands of students. Daryl knows what lands, what questions are coming, and how to keep every age group engaged.
Know a School or Library That Should Have This Show?
If you can get Daryl's foot in the door — an introduction to a principal, librarian, or program coordinator — he'll take it from there. Public library shows are free to the community. School shows are priced for school budgets. Make the connection and Daryl handles the rest.
